Is the Speedcell BTLE compatible with android devices yet?
If not, what devices and apps can i use it with?
Can I buy the dongle to connect to my PC in order to sync my speedcell BTLE with the micoach manager?

The SPEED_CELL™ Bluetooth® is not compatible with Android devices nor computers yet.
Currently it works with the miCoach Mobile App and the miCoach multi-sport app on iPhone 4S, 5, 5C, 5S, iPod 5th generation. It's also compatible with the miCoach SMART RUN.

Printed directly onto the SPEED_CELL BTLE packaging it states very clearly that it's made for (among others) Android devices. Please explain why your response contradicts the packaging? I'm confused.
Interestingly enough this is correct and has no one pointed out it is in fact mis-selling and due to the packaging and the multiple responses stating its not android compatible there are a vast array of unpleasant trading standards actions that can be taken. So would Adidas like to refund the vast amounts of people who bought these for android phones or in fact get their backsides in gear and give us a usable device
I just want to answer the last question.
You can sync the ANT+ SPEED_CELL™ with the manager using miCoach CONNECT dongle for PC but not the SPEED_CELL ™ Bluetooth® Smart. The CONNECT works only with the ANT+ SPEED_CELL™.
We expect to have both Android compatibility and Bluetooth™ Smart® enabled PC/Mac compatibility within the first half of 2014. Please note, compatibility will not necessarily come to all PCs however and will likely to come to Mac users first. PC/Mac compatibility is subject to HW compatibility and we do not control the availability of BTLE Smart Compatibility in these hardware products.

There are post going back to last summer asking about an Android app.
An update would be very welcome indeed.. I got the BTLE for christmas and it's just lying around not being used because of this compatibility issue. If compatibility is announced to be fixed in the first half of 2014, there could be more frequent updates and accurate predictions so we, the customers, at least know what to expect. Also, can someone explain why the product seems to have disappeared from the adidas online stores? Is the software still being developed?

I'll dive right into it. It's inexcusable that Adidas haven't bothered to release the Android app yet -- the hardware in the SPEED_CELL itself obviously works as the device works with iOS. The raw output is the same for iOS and android - the only thing that is left is to process the data to evaluate sprint speeds ad other workout information; this is done using code in the software: simple numerical analysis - very basic programming (arithmetic!!)! Note that Android-iOS compatibility issues don't even feature here!
There is no good reason that we've been unable to use our SPEED_CELLs over the past few months, as the only thing stopping us from using our products (that we bought with the understanding that they were 'plug&play'-ready with Android devices) has been software.... who's programming for you, Adidas? Have you hired a sack of potatoes to do the job with a fake degree in programming?
Jokes aside, the whole thing doesn't make a whole lot of sense unless Adidas have some sort of contractual obligation to Apple to screw Android users... which really I hope is not the case. Over the last couple of months of my sad ownership of the SPEED_CELL I could have gone without the features like publishing my workouts of Facebook or Instagram or whatever 'high-priority' issues are holding you back (technical issues that still don't make a whole lot of sense seeing as you've managed it with an award-winning iOS app and are now on V.2.2); I just want to run, and I don't really care about all the extra clutter at this point. Weird that you haven't released even a limited version of the app!
What's going on Adidas? I like your gear, and over the years, I've been a loyal customer! Your stuff (when it works) is really high quality, and I've been so happy to train and play sports with the help of Adidas. You've really let yourselves down here, and I can't understand it. Happy(ish) to hear that the new app is finally on its way... assuming is indeed on its way (I received an email saying 1st quarter of 2014, and that's already been extended to 1st half of 2014... any more delays we should know about?).

I have a android version 4.4 and a system with Bluetooth 4.0 (smart)it still does not work. It recognized but software does not pair.

Can you please tell me with which miCoach app ( train & run app or multi-sport app) you're trying to pair your SPEED_CELL™ Bluetooth® Smart and which model of Android phone you have?
When pairing, please make sure that the SPEED_CELL™ BTLE is activated (shake it for 20 seconds or walk 24 steps as it can be activated by movement) and that it's near your phone. If you've paired your SPEED_CELL™ BTLE with any other apps, remove it from the other apps. Also replace the battery if needed.
If you're trying to pair your SPEED_CELL™ BTLE with the multi-sport app for Android, please note that the multi-sport app is available for a range of selected Android phones, namely Google Nexus 4/5 and Samsung S3/S4/S5 at the moment as stated in our support blog here.

I agree with @derronvh. It is inexcusable that there is not mutli-sport app for the speed_cell on Android. Surely Adidas must have the resources to hire developers that can do this. No there is a promise that you can use it as a stride sensor? Seriously there are so many apps out there for running that simply use your phone and you don't need to buy an extra device to measure how far you've run.
"We also expect to have a first release of the multi-sport app available in June. This, however, will have a limited functionality set with the full functionality planned for a few months later." This is ridiculous. You need to hire some new developers or hire an outside firm to do it. Another 2-3 months for the app? And how long will it take until it is actually something useful?
I ordered Speed_Cell directly from Adidas.com and I specifically asked if it will work with my Samsung Galaxy S. The rep in the chat. Said "yes you will be able to use this with your phone." Clearly a bold face lie!
Mine will be packaged up and sent back to Adidas. This is an complete failure on your part. Sadly it seemed to have such great potential.
So, it's early april thus we can expect an Android app any day now? This means someone should be able to announce a more precise date at least, right?
I just went to adidas company store in Toronto. the reps don't know anything about the speed cell. They claim it works with apple and android devices (as stated in the manuals), but cannot demo anything.
I encourage people who bought the device in Canada to contact class action lawyers. Adidas should be made to pay.
I bought mine in the US and will see if I can get a few more happy customers and sue the idiots.
So there have been support updates on the 8th, 9th and 10th of april among which a very enthousiastic update to the multi-sport app so we can now blablablabla...

The adidas miCoach app on Android will be available early April and will include support for the SPEED_CELL™ Bluetooth® Smart as a Stride Sensor. We’ll update the support blog with an exact date when we have the release package ready for Google play publication.
Note to you guys: early April has only 3 days left, from the 15th on late april arrives. Where is the app? There isn't even an announcement with a more precise release date...

I was so glad to find the updated the new android app but it seems the speed_cell BTLE/HR monitor connection is offered only from Android 4.3 or above. Unfortunately the version in my cell phone is 4.1.2. Would you let me know if you're planning to cover the lower version of android?

With almost 80% of smartphones sold globally last year using Android is there not any way that Adidas can provide, if not a functioning app at least some information about when this can be expected? It seems ridiculous that such an overwhelming majority of the potential customers are getting such a ludicrous service.
It's now July and still no multi-sport app for android. Simply unacceptable. And the app that is available is a sorry excuse for an app compared to the images and layout shown in advertisements. I've been a huge fan of Adidas for a long time, and have chosen Adidas soccer cleats over other alternatives for years now, but service like this unacceptable. It is really making me question why I should stay loyal to a brand that deceives android users into purchasing a product, when android compatibility is obviously of no concern to the company.
So nearly a month on from my original response in regards to this incompatibility and all its generated is some waffle and no substance. I have actually gone out and bought the PC version purely to be able toi keep tracking so I now have an unusable device that I have used for the spare clip. I would also like to moan about the "speed cell compatible" tag on some of the trainers you produce as well. My Kakari rugby boots are speed cell compatible and have a slot in the heel for the chip to fit however the 2 pairs of adidas mana I got for me and my son claim to be compatible but I can only assume this is because it has laces, does that mean Nike and Reebok are also speed cell compatible? There is some very shoddy advertising going on and I for one have had enough and will now be forwarding this on to trading standards.
Is there an opportunity to beta test the Android app?

I was considering getting a Speed_Cell to use with my android phone. I came here to check it out becuase Adidas on their website are very unclear about what the chip does on android and is very vague about it's support. They seem to talk a lot of vague rubbish here too. Could someone here tell me what features of the speed_cell are compatible with Android as of now and what features are not compatible?
Save your money. I bought a pair of F50's for the SOLE purpose of tracking my performance in soccer games and training. I bought the Speed_Cell last week. It does not connect to my Sony laptop, my Sony Tablet or my Sony phone. The shoes and the speed_cell were a COMPLETE waste of time and money for me. Now I just hope that I can speedily_sell them on eBay.
Why is this not being address? I have a $70 paper weight. We don't need excuses just get it done. Elevate the issue, pull in some resources and make your product work you like advertise it to. This is kiddy stuff...

Yep. It's now July and still no android app. As a pacer it's pretty useless to anyone who doesn't run on a treadmill. I play football and tennis so mine is also still a paperweight..

There is an existing app called "miCoach train & run" ... does this work with the Speed_Cell BTLE?
I have the original HTC One (M7) and the app works fine on it.
Google play says that the multi-sports app is incompatible with my phone, the HTC M8.
Damn - I think i'll hold off upgrading from the M7 to M8 for now.
How do you manage to sync the speedcell to your M7 device? Cause I am getting connected but no freaking synchronizing possible..

The miCoach multi-sport app is not compatible with your phone (Samsung Note 3) yet. At the moment the multi-sport app can be downloaded to the following Android phones: Google Nexus 4/5 and Samsung Galaxy S3/S4/S5 running Android version 4.3 and higher. For details check out this post.
I cannot tell you when the app will be compatible with your phone. Rest assured that once there's new regarding this, we will post in our Support Updates. I therefore advise you to check the Support Updates section now and then for the latest new.
The SPEED_CELLTM BTLE (Bluetooth® Smart compatible) is not yet compatible with computers. We are working on it and will of course let you and the whole miCoach community know once the SPEED_CELLTM BTLE can be synced with computers.

I would like to assume that you have a team of software developers working on a release of the multi-app for all android phone. I currently have the LG G2. Do you have a project leader? The soccer season is about to kick off for my kid and we would love to use this tool that I have paid for. The advertisement for it seem to be awesome, but it is nothing if I cannot access it.

I wonder what the possibilities are for the refund or a solution of my purchase, cause after 210€ for the shoes, €80 for the speedcell and many days of messing around with your product just to find out it is not syncing I am honestly totally fed up. It has happened rarely that i was so misled by a product..

I have a m7 and I can get it connected but it doesn't synchronize (Exchange data).. So it is not working basically.. have you managed to get it synced?
Its exciting to hear that the multisport app is now compatible on my phone the Galaxy S3 as I have been waiting patiently.

Is there a step by step guide as to how I can start recording my training and matchplay? (As I'm still a little bit confused)
And do I still have to hold my phone during, or can I simply sync the training session or game to my phone after its complete?

We are continuously testing additional phones for supporting the miCoach multi-sport app. However, due to the fragmented Android landscape it is a known fact that there are challenges in simply enabling additional ones. We want to make sure, the acceptable quality level can be reached before enabling more phones. This requires more time and we will keep you updated.

I know where you are coming from but the main point that the btle version had android compatible on it from the very start is the issue. Since then it has been a case of please wait we will sort it out, the original post was over 10 months ago now. I have given my Bluetooth speed cell away now as to be frank it is useless with the hardware I have, despite all the assurances of "coming soon" I have lost faith. This also means the ff80s I bought with the slot for the chip have been an expensive mistake, almost twice the price of the non slotted version so surely you can understand my upset and that of others who have invested. As someone who has to use pocket money for gear or ask parents to supply it this means in comparison I am making a large investment of my available funds which could have been used elsewhere.
Hi, I'm trying to sync my SPEED_CELL BT smart with my HTC One M8 (Android 4.4.3) and I 90% get "Sensor sync failed" (also after shake it for 20 seconds or walk 24 steps as it can be activated by movement). Sometimes I get something like 15% of status bar completed and then stucks (without hang the app), or get again "Sensor sync failed".
Tomorrow I'll try with a new battery (I buyed the SPEED_CELL two days ago) and sync again... then I'll report.

edit: even if my battery tester says 70% charge battery, I changed that CR2032 with a new one and "as if by magic" synced my workouts (It's awesome, it remembers workouts, at least for some minutes, without battery). Very happy!
Good to know the new battery works. Yeah, even if the SPEED_CELL™ is new, the battery can go empty when this is in storage so it's always a good call to replace it when having these type of issues.
About your SPEED_CELL™ remembering your workouts even without battery, that is correct! For it, every time you take out the battery out of your device, please wait for 2 minutes before putting it back again. If you put the battery back in too soon (after less than 30seconds) then your data might end up corrupted.

I'm happy to let you know that the miCoach multi-sport app is now compatible with some Android phone models and luckily one of the supported phone is Samsung Galaxy S5. You can download the miCoach multi-sport app for free at the Google Play store.
Yes, you can lave your mobile phone at home, run indoor or outdoor with the SPEED_CELL™ Bluetooth® Smart and then sync your data later at home using multi-sport app. You can assign your SPEED_CELL™ BTLE data to Football/Soccer, Tennis, Basketball, Handball, Field Hockey, Rugby and American Football in the multi-sport app for Android and get relevant data such as speed (max. and avg. speed), distance, duration, etc. Please note that it's currently not possible to assign the SPEED_CELL™ BTLE data to Running in the multi-sport app for Android.

You can assign the SPEED_CELL™ data to a running in the multi-sport app for iOS but this feature is currently not available in the multi-sport app for Android. We've been updating and we will continuously update the multi-sport app for Android to bring new features and improvements but I can't tell you at this point if this feature will be added in the near future as we haven't got any update on this. However, I'll for sure share your request with our app developers. As always we'll inform you via support blog if we have any update on this.
I'd like to let you know even if you assign your SPEED_CELL™ data to Football, you'll still get the distance, duration, your average speed, max. speed.
You'll get the following stats when you assign the SPEED_CELL™ data to Football in multi-sport app for Android. (Click the image to enlarge).
You'll get the following stats when you assign the SPEED_CELL™ data to Running in multi-sport app for iOS. Please note that they're two different set of SPEED_CELL™ data. I just wanted to show you what data you get for running and football.
Another option is to use the miCoach train & run app paired with the SPEED_CELL™ for running.
In this case the SPEED_CELL™ measures distance, speed/pace and sends its data to the miCoach train & run app wirelessly so that you can use the miCoach train & run app for indoor run as well. Of course the negative point is that you need to carry your phone with you while running.

Hello! New miCoach user here... first of all I've changed the battery in my device, and it finally started to work with my PC. But I have Asus Zenfone 6, I've downloaded miCoach train & run and tried to pair it with my miCoach SPEED_CELL. However the phone doesn't see SPEED_CELL at all. I tried everything. This is because my phone isn't supported or what's the problem?
So you have the SPEED_CELL™ ANT+ that you use with your PC, right? You connect the SPEED_CELL™ and sync it with the PC by using the USB CONNECT.
If so, unfortunately your SPEED_CELL™ is not compatible with your phone Asus Zenfone 6. The SPEED_CELL™ ANT+ is only compatible with iOS devices. You need an iPhone 4S or lower if you want to use the sensor with it.
If you have an iPhone 4S or lower, you need the CONNECT for iPhone/iPod, in order to pair and use the SPEED_CELL™ with it.

You won't be able to pair the SPEED_CELL™ ANT+ with an iPhone 5. Only BTLE (Bluetooth Smart) devices can be paired with iPhone 5 or higher.
The SPEED_CELL™ ANT+ is only compatible with iOS devices (iPhone 4S or lower). To pair and use the sensor with an iPhone 4S or lower, you need the miCoach CONNECT for iPhone/iPod.
The SPEED_CELL™ ANT+ is also compatible with PC/Mac (as you already know). To sync it with your computer you need the CONNECT for PC/Mac (it is the one that you already have).
The SPEED_CELL™ BTLE and other BTLE devices from miCoach are compatible with iPhone 4S or higher (iPhone 5 or 6). You can pair those devices with the app via Bluetooth.

For your iPhone 6 you will need to get the SPEED_CELL™ Bluetooth® Smart compatible. You will be able to recognize it because it doesn't have any extra dongle or CONNECT, the back is green and it comes in a large black box. This device will ensure you can get your game stats on the multi-sport app on your iPhone 6.

I am so glad to have found this discussion, but am surprised at how long these issues have been going on for. This is definitely not what I expect from ADIDAS. I have been losing my mind trying to find a way to get multi-sport app on my phone (Samsung S3 mini) and then try to pair with my PC (Windows 7) via bluetooth using a bluetooth v4.0 dongle. Could you please provide me with an update on when I will be able to use my Speed_cell BTLE?

As we've mentioned in our support blog post here, the multi-sport app for Android required Android OS 4.3 and higher. Unfortunately the Samsung Galaxy S3 mini has OS 4.1.
As you may have seen our support blog post here, we've released an update for the miCoach Manager v.6.0.27 for Mac users that brings compatibility to the SPEED_CELL™ Bluetooth® Smart to all users with Mac computers that have built-in BTLE support (Bluetooth 4.0). And I'd like to let you know that we're now working on a new version of the miCoach Manager to bring compatibility to the SPEED_CELL™ Bluetooth® Smart to all users with Windows 8 PCs that have built-in BTLE support. I can't share the ETA yet but I'm checking with our developers. I'll let you know as soon as I get any update on this.

to make myself sure, I want to ask you few questions. I have SPEED_CELL™ Bluetooth® Smart and the main reason I bought it was to monitor my progress on the football field (during trainings and matches). To sync the miCoach chip I use my new mobile phone Samsung S3 Neo (I've just changed it for S3 Mini, mainly due to compatibility problems with Androids lower than 4.3). However, in Google Play Store I found only the "miCoach train and run app", which I simply managed to connect with the miCoach chip. It works fine, but for the purpose of leaving the phone in dressing room and use the SPEED_CELL™ Bluetooth® Smart outside in my football shoe and after training/workout sync it with the app - is this app convenient? Or I need "miCoach multi-sport app"? Problem is, that I can't find it in my app store, although someone said that this app is already available for Android 4.3 and higher devices including S3/S4/S5. My phone has Android 4.4.2.
The other possibility for me is to launch SPEED_CELL™ Bluetooth® Smart via PC (Windows 8) and miCoach Manager, but USB Connect still hasn't arrived yet, or has it?Please, let me know about the current situation and future views about the issues I meant.

If you use the SPEED_CELL™ Bluetooth® Smart paired with the miCoach train & run app, it works as a normal stride sensor and you need to carry the mobile phone with you while working out.
To use the SPEED_CELL™ Bluetooth® Smart as a standalone device to record your game data without having to carry mobile phone and sync the data later to check your game data, you need the miCoach multi-sport app.
The miCoach mulit-sport app is currently compatible with some Android phones (Samsung Galaxy S3/S4/S5, Google Nexus 4/5, HTC One (M8), LG G2/G3, Moto G, Sony Xperia Z1/ Z2/Z3, OnePlus One, Galaxy Alpha).
We are continuously testing additional phones for supporting the miCoach multi-sport app. However, due to the fragmented Android landscape it is a known fact that there are challenges in simply enabling additional ones. We want to make sure, the acceptable quality level can be reached before enabling more phones. This requires more time and we'll keep you updated. I've shared your phone model with our app developers so that they can look into it. I'll let you know if there's any update on this.
Compatibility of the SPEED_CELL™ Bluetooth® Smart with Windows 8 PCs equipped with BTLE technology is something we have been steadily working on and is nearly ready for public release (no CONNECT is needed for SPEED_CELL™ BTLE).The miCoach Manager software has been developed to allow communication between the SPEED_CELL™ Bluetooth® Smart and Windows 8 PCs via BTLE technology. However, we are waiting for the Windows 8 Operating System to be updated by Microsoft to ensure complete compatibility. Once this update has taken place, we can then release the new miCoach Manager. We do not have any concrete dates for when this will take place, but we are hopeful that it will happen within the first half of 2015. However, the info you gave me isn't much positive for me. I just wonder why Samsung S3 is supported for multi-sport app and Samsung S3 Neo is not...They seem like the same mobile phones, Neo is just a little bit more actual (version of Android, few apps and some technical stuff). But all in all, older S3-users can use SPEED_CELL™ Bluetooth® Smart with joy and those who have newer S3 Neo with updated software can't (including me). It's a pity and it seems like a kind of nonsense to me. I am quite sad about it, but I strongly believe that the multi-sport app will be available for more devices before long, so I could enjoy all miCoach features!

You can download the multi-sport app from the Google Play store and sync your SPEED_CELL™ Bluetooth® Smart to check your game data. So please give a try!

I'm not sure if it is got to do with region or country. I couldn't get my speed cell to work at all. At the moment I'm holding my third speed cell which I've exchanged the last 2 and still haven't had any luck with it. I'm currently on a Samsung Galaxry S4 with Android 4.4.2 (latest). I've put in a new battery on the cell, tried to un-install and install the app, re-start my phone, shaked the cell many times before pairing it. I'm not sure what more can I do to get it working. I also rang the adidas hotline in australia in which they told same thing as I can read in the forum.
I'm hoping someone can help here.

I have trouble that I connect my bluetooth device to phone correctly ... synchronize over multi-sport application also correctly and my workout nowhere ... I don´t see on web browser and dont see in mobile device ... but application wrote that synchronization is ok and how many new workouts synchronize ...
