I purchased micoach pacer just 2 days ago, but this product fuction is not as much as I expected.

I couldn't hear REAL TIME COACHING ADVISE during a workout.  During my interval workout, it was interval so that I should have done fast & slow with heartrate, I ran very slow for green zone and I ran fast at blue zone for realtime coaching test.  But I couldn't here only 2times of speed up realtime coaching for 5min blue or green zone even though I was totally out of target zone.

My questions is how offen dose realtime coaching avaliable, if actual heartrate is out of target zone heartrate? (Only 1 or 2time for 5min is correct function or my pacer is something wrong?)

I spent almost 5hours to change all settings and hardreset.  As well as reading forum talking to find same problem.

  • Did you hear sound at all ? Got the earplug connected well?

If you are out of the zone you should get an immediate warning to speed up or slow down.

If you then get back in the zone you should get a confirmation immediately by the message "maintain zone".

If you do not get the message maintain zone, it means you are still out of the zone.

I am not sure how often that is repeated, I never measured it, but I would guess every minute or so.

But you can be sure, if you got the message to speed up or slow down, and then nothing else, you are still in the wrong zone and you should follow the last instruction.

    • thinking about this further, the reminder is probably less than once per minute, you are probably right it is more like once per 2 or 3 minutes.

I did a 10 K run for which I had programmed 20 minutes red at the end while for the first 8 minutes of that zone I was still in yellow. I remember hearing the message 3 times or so.

But still you should get he message at the start when you are out of the zone and then be reminded ever so often if you are not back into the zone. Follow the last instruction.

I some cases it would be quite annoying to be reminder much more often, say every 15 seconds, but it would be nice if it would be configurable.

      • I, too, would love to see an option for how often the coaching info is repeated on the Pacer.

I also use another app on the ipod Touch,  and when it coaches intervals, it will coach you a couple of times in each interval, including positive reinforcement, and then counting down (every 1-2 minutes or 1/4 of interval, and then to 30 seconds, then 10 seconds, and 5 seconds).

I find that very helpful, and would love to see a feature like that on the Pacer.

  • Hi BWLee,

When you are out of your zone, you are right that you will hear the reminder every couple of minutes.  Considering that the goal of the workout is to stay in the zone, and not purposefully to be out of it, the voice coaching will give you a notice that you should get to the correct zone almost right away.  Then it will give you some time to get to that zone.  If, within a couple of minutes, you are not in that zone, it will coach you again to tell you to speed up or slow down.

However you do have the option to increase the frequency of these.  You can do the following:

    - In your account, go to Settings in the drop-down menu by your username

    - Click on the Pacer tab

    - You will see Update Announcements during Workout:

    Settings_Pacer_Announcements.PNG

    - There you'll see Repeat Last Instructions.  Check that box.  As discussed above, this is the last coaching instruction that you received, such as 'Speed up the Blue Zone'.

    - Under Play Every, choose Minutes and then you can increase the frequency to as much as every minute.  As you can see, you can choose from a total of 8 Announcements which you would hear at your chosen frequency.

I hope this info helps you out!

    regards,
