Hello fellow runners,

I've been using the pacer for a about a month now and I am quite satisfied. Lately however i've been getting some confusing instructions from the pacer when using pace-based coaching and would like to know if anyone has had the same or similar problem.

For instance my blue zone is 07:04 - 05:56 min/km. I usually run on a treadmill, which means i manage to keep a fairly steady pace. While running a 30 min. blue zone recovery workout at a pace of around 6:20 min/km (i.e. clearly in the middle of my blue zone) I keep getting an instruction to "slow down to blue zone" only to be followed by an instruction "to maintain blue zone" a couple of seconds later. This happens every 2-3 minutes and it is becoming kind of annoying...

Mind you that the 6:20 min/km pace I mentioned is reported by the pacer itself and not the treadmill, and after the race my online stats show that I maintained that pace more or less for the duration of my work out (which is correct). During my work out however, when I hit the center button immediately after hearing the "slow down" instruction it tells me i'm in green zone!

At some point I was thinking that maybe my pacer was misconfigured to use heart-rate coaching for some reason, and so I've tried to switch to heart zones --> synch --> switch back to pace based again --> synch again just to make sure it *gets* it right, but no difference.

The only other logical explanation I can think of is that maybe the pacer really "wants" me to slow down so that I keep below the middle of my zone but I'm not so sure if that would make sense,,,,

In any case, I would be really interested to know of your experiences on using paced-based coaching. Any comments welcome!

Cheers,

Mk

  • I use pace-based training, however outside not on treadmill.  I dont have any problems with my micoach warning me to slow down unless I am completely out of the zone that I should be in. So that should not be your problem.

Do you use the heart-rate monitor as well as the stride sensor
