I have the exact same prob with the sh#t house GPS on the iPhone.
Bust a nut for 30mins and it only records 400m run!

There currently is not a way to directly edit a workout route. You can add the route to your route list and edit it there but this would require you to create a new workout and attach the edited route to that manually created workout to get the result you are looking for.
Route editing is a commonly asked for feature given the variances in GPS accuracy. It's also something we will be improving upon over time.
Went out for a run last night and the GPS route shows a straight shot through a couple yards. It would be easy to figure out the distance and edit accordingly if the program allowed it. Really messes with the pace. Please put down my vote for this to be addressed in the next upgrade.
I don't get this... the mileage recorded says 7.06mi, and my 1st mile took over 17min. to complete (the whole time I was thinking, "where are my half-mile updates??"), and once I got my 1st mile notification, I was way the heck away from my house, so I *knew* it wasn't right... but right below the mileage count and other stats on the miCoach website, my GPS map shows I went 8.5mi.!!! How can this be a mile and a half off??? I never had a problem before - but I did update to iOS 4.2.1 the night before - do you think my iPhone froze up during my workout??? How can I get the map and the mileage to match?? You can even see where the little purple man stops on my route, and I ran clear through to the finish line... It doesn't make sense!
Click on that specific workout, then click on TOOLS. There is a delete option there. You can then add a new workout. I just did this after reading this post today. Hope this helps.
Add me to the list - I'm not so worried about the distance but it now thinks I've run 1k in 3:19 so gives me no credit for improving my true pb. In my case, the ability to simply delete an award would be good.
I have problem too with recording route from GPS:
Today I done "Free Workout" and my route was straightforward. My GPS has recorded something like this:
I need to normalise/edit this distance because by this bug I have new achievement: Fastest 1KM - 00:01:33 MIN/KM This is achievement is not real for me.
So there is no way of editing this? I didn't run over top of houses! ![]()
YES PLEASSSE! Add my vote! This is SOOO frustrating I just tried to do a new Assesment workout because I think my pace has increased - by the time I got home the temps had hit 100 here, but to quote another user "I busted a nut" through temps and into 7, 8, and 9 effort to get a good assesment --- For NOTHING - GPS failed and did not get any of the paces, GRRR. I love you MiCoach by GPS reliability is very spotty, if you're not going to fix this at least give us the ability to edit the results.
Yes, it's rubbish - I just added this post to another thread...
Hi miCoach,
I have had on and off issues with the GPS and how the iPhone App uses the GPS data. More often than not, the GPS is found quickly, but about 20% of the time I will lose GPS during my run (it tells you this as you go) and sometime it comes back. This can be on a clear sunny day, on a clear path by the river with no trees or buildings, iPhone on an armband and all background apps diasbled, and correct settings. Quite frustrating. This has happened during all but one my attempted assessment runs but only on a small number of runs proper.
However, worse than this is the 75% of the time when the GPS is not "lost" but it will log the run with massively innacurate GPS readings, running through houses, over rivers, covering 100m in 1 second, etc. And this can be just for a small section or most of the run. Basically means that that the log of my run is useless unless I spend ages edtiing the route (which I can't actually do in miCoach - I have to export and import into Runkeeper).
Now, I appreciate that the iPhone, and therefore the App, cannot possibly "know" that the GPS reading is inaccurate, but why is there nothing in the app to recognise that when I've been running at a constant 12 km/h, then suddenly "decide" to run at 100km/h in the opposite direction it's probably not correct and make some attempt to limit the range of the mis-read? Like, use average pace and direction for the previous 10 seconds until it gets a reading back in "range" of where the current estimated position is, or after another 30 seconds or something - there must be something..
Oddly, when I was using Runkeeper, this almost never happened, so there must be factors in the way the miCoach App uses the GPS which is affecting its accuracy.
Overall it's very frustrating and makes me far less inclined to use the app at all.
Greg (based in Brisbane, in case there are regional factors that can affect the GPS).
i have been using micoach app and i find it giving 15% ~ 20% extra distance than what's real.
i verify the distance of route i run by
--- driving a car to check the distance
--- using another tracking app like endomondo and runstar
and always, micoach gives extra distance.
i pretty much only buy adidas running shoes.
i'd like to use the app micoach
trouble is
--- accuracy in distance --- i come to think micoach set it that way to encourage runners.
i certainly hope it wasn't the case and would not appreciate it if it was the case.
--- need the function to export / import .gpx data
the export function is so that i can take my jogging record and post on other socail web sites i go to
the import function is that in case micoach is not fixing the app software to read better accuracy,
i'd take logs from other app and post it here because other apps give better accuracy.
i have tested multiple times using the same phone, run different apps separate jogging trips
and also tested to run 2 apps at the same jogging trip,
micoach always gives extra distance.
so i guess it is micoach the app being funny and not my phone / hardware.
please fix this problem or user just can't rely on the results from micoach the app.
i wear adidas shoe, shirts and love to use adida products.
this app turns me off.
fix it, please.
Hi MASATOTW,
Thanks for posting.
First of all, thanks a lot for your honest feedback, we are aware that this is not the desired user experience and understand your frustration. We are always trying to improve so be sure we are going to pass your feedback to our developers.
I would like to add some notes regarding the GPS on the miCoach App:
The accuracy of GPS in optimal conditions is +/- 3%. GPS signal loss can occur under dense foliage and urban canyons along with how you carry the phone. If you carry the phone in your hand with the display face up this will yield great results. If you prefer to use an armband also make sure to have the display facing up.
When the GPS signal strength is good, the GPS coordinates are given every 1 to 2 seconds. With the miCoach app we usually need about 6-9 GPS points to calculate a speed that we think is reasonably accurate. Using fewer GPS points usually gives speeds that appear to have wild errors. miCoach's goal is to use as few GPS points as possible so that your speed is updated instantly. But if we use too few points then the speed the app shows will have more probability of being wrong. Then, the miCoach app looks at this data very closely and will discard data if not at the level of accuracy needed to make coaching decisions.
About the GPS of your car vs. the GPS when using miCoach: every App that measures speed with GPS will need to consider multiple GPS points, otherwise the calculated speed is just too noisy for use. Apps that specialize in walking and running speeds (like miCoach) need more help because of a greater relative error since there is less distance between points.
Take this as an example: if you are running at 12 km/h then you cover about 3.3 meters every second. If you are driving at 60km/hr then you cover about 22.2 meters every second. So, the relative error between two points is smaller in your car.
I hope this helps.

Hi Miss Tennis1
Thank you for taking the time to reply.
Yes, I do realize structures / trees / etc could have an effect on GPS.
I leave in the country size and not much tall trees along my jogging route,
interefernce from those is close to none.
Cellphone GPS vs car meter
That I mentioned about the reading on distance from
cellphone / micoach app
vs
car
i meant to say i used the meter in the car, not GPS in car
to measure distance.
i set the car meter to 0
and went the same route i go jogging.
the car meter showing distance
is very close to that on app endomondo
and app runstar almost matches that reading on car meter.
i suppose car meter is quite reliable
and i have done this test with 2 different cars.
I would really like to use micoach that i really
like adidas running shoes, in 2 years, i've bought 5 pairs, not too many, but
hope it shows adidas is my preference.
i would really like to use app micoach,
need the app to
--- be better at measuring distance
--- export .gpx files / jogging records so i can post workouts on other web pages.
endomondo offers export / import functions.
Really, really hope the above can be taken care of
and i could be adidas straight.
Thank you
MASA
