I haven't been recording routes but I wish I had been.
On a program that increasese distance by 5 minutes every week, it's very easy just to run a little bit further down a route than I did last time, but in a couple of weeks the schedule drops down and I've got do do 50 mins again - I don't remember which of my routes is a 50 min runs so I'll end up either turning to head home too early and having to run past it, or I'll end up ending my run too far away from home and have a walk on my hands.
And I can't properly judge my 30 minute runs either. I deliberately try to take a different route each time so I'm not just doing my favourite all-flat route for the fastest pace, or the hilly route that wreks my % in zone score. Because I haven't been recording routes I can't compare progress from today with a month ago because I don't know which day this week I've done the exact same route as a day a month ago.
