    • The adidas HRM is an ANT+ unit.  Sort of standard for HRMs now.  Some Android phones have ANT+ radios inbuilt.  Others would need a dongle for ANT+.  I'm not that clued up on Android phones but how many different types of dongle would adidas have to produce to satisfy the Android market?  (Samsung/HTC/Motorola etc) They probably haven't supported android phones because it isn't cost effective for them to do so.

      • Every single sportsapp out there on android is able to use both ANT+ and bluetooth HRM.

the fact that micoach still does not is a clear indication that Adidas is nog interested in Android users.

If it is too hard to make the coaching work on android than stick to speed coaching and simply register the heart rate like all the other apps do.. come on.. no HRM at all is plain bullshit.

        • micoach isn't the core business of adidas like it is for endomondo etc.  Selling clothing is.  They don't charge for the app, they charge for the equipment that makes the app work.  They don't make a bluetooth HRM as they've obviously made a business decision to use ANT+ for the pacer.  They're not going to put any effort into supporting 3rd party bluetooth HRMs because they aren't going to make any money out of it.

It amazes me that people demand this and demand that or call something bullshit because something they got for free doesn't work the way they want it.

Adidas want to sell pacer bundles.  They make money.  Adidas want to sell HRMs and speed_cells with iPhone connects as there is a large market able to use the iPhone connect and they make money. Android is a very large market but with too many different types of phone to make it viable.  It's true of just about any other smartphone peripheral/accessory.

          • My friend, I have the adidas Heart Rate Sensor that communicates with my phone through ANT+.

So the situation is i bought their stuff already only to find it does not work on Android.

            • On the upside, i just discovered today that i can run endomondo en micoach simultaneously. So endo is monitoring my heart rate while micoach is relying on GPS only.. a bit weird at times when they both give feedback at the same time but it works..

          • Nice advertising - just to make business and sell their products, right? But it doesn't work and the Adidas people know it:

          • Every mobile phone has to have the same micro adapter. This is to comply with the Europian law. Only Apple doesn't have this and needs an special adapter. So in my point of view you only need to develope a ANT+ adaptor for micro usb. I think there is a demand for this product.

  • I can not understand why so many people prefer to run with smartphones, cause they are so bulky. Look toward the Pacer, its much smaller & comfortable.

    • Well i don't know what a pacer can do but the positives of a smartphone are

      - play music

      - give audio feedback during the workout

      - Determine speed and heart rate

      - Gives you a choice which workout software you want to use/try

      - can feed live data so people can track you live and give you peptalk live (through some applications)

      - can be used as a phone in case of emergency

      - can be used for many other things than just working out (photo, film, navigation, internet)

Indeed some are bulky, but look at the Sony Xperia Active, it's small, rugged, waterproof, comes with a arm band and is able to receive ANT+ signal. Add an Adidas heart rate sensor on ANT+ and your set to go.. if only the software would work on android.

  • Please make it possible to use the ANT+ heart rate transponder in miCoachfor Android!!!!

    • Agree!!!!

I want to use the equipment I bought along with the most convenient solution that Adidas provides (the Android app).

As a paying customer, I feel Adidas has neglected this field for far too long and has not even provided workaround for the app to use the heart rate data from the pacer....

      Please fix

    • It's ridiculous, stop ignoring the need for HRM and android

No problem if the app is paid, or pay for HRM set

  • I have an Android phone with ANT+ (Sony ericsson x10 mini pro)

I would like to know if I can use any ANT+ HRM (garmin, suunto, etc) with micoach app in order to monitor HR and train using HR zone in stead of pace zone

  • I really don't get why they don't make a adaptor for android phones. Yes there are a lot of android phones but the conector is always the same ... micro-usb ... not like someone said that it would be impossible.

If it would work with the convert from usb to micro-usb I would be fine. Since is super stupid for me to track my BPM with the pacer and check what workout I have plan with my phone.

If I'n mworking out indoors = I cannot associate my "phone" workout with the pacer workout ...

    • Recently ANT have released a USB service allowing existing ANT+ sticks (Garmin etc) to work with Android phones.   I have a Garmin ANT+ stick attached to my Galaxy Note via a short USB cable - this works well. Sadly, most sports apps that recognize ANT+ sensors don't support the USB service at present, but I understand it is a relatively minor software change.  Hopefully micoach will be updated to support USB service as well as phones with ANT+ built in.

  • ... and again, there are already bluetooth HRMs on the market, so why not start with that easy support addition, instead of waiting for ANT-adapters ...

  • please support it.

  • I wan't the HRM so bad... but I will not buy it until it is not supported for android.. that's a pity.

  • FYI, Endomondo works with Galaxy S3 and  Polar Wlink bluetooth.

I don't understand why miCoach couldn't do the same.

  • I would love to see HRM bluetooth v3/v4 and/or ANT+ support for the Android Mobile App.

I would even pay a reasonable amount for such functionality in the app (anyone in the $$$ department reading this...someone is willing to pay for the micoach app??!, Endomondo does heart rate zone stats with montly/yearly subscription payments?...Hello?....)

But as discussions about missing HRM support in Android Mobile App have existed for nearly  2 years, I am starting to wonder if there are any existing deals between Adidas and Apple to NOT implement this functionality in the Android Mobile App....?

Somewhere along the line of updates in the past year the Bluetooth Pairing permission got added, so as it seems some work has been done in the BT area, but it's sad to see that (as far as I know) almost any exercise android app out there has some kind of HRM support either by Bluetooth v3 or ANT+ and the one app that in my opinion has superior scheduling and coaching in still lacks such functionality...

Hopefully someone in the $$$ department reading this will open his/her eyes and start thinking about implementing ANT+ and Bluetooth v3/v4 support...and hey if you do the job right, we might be even willing to buy more sportswear....?

Disappointed 20yrs+ Handball Spezial buyer/user now running to keep fit....and probably soon away from miCoach...

  • Please add bluetooth support to Android app!
