I recently ran an assessment workout for the third time since I began using Micoach.  In the past my zones generally came back as red in the 5:45-6:45 range, yellow in the 6:46-7:46 range, green in the 7:47-9:00 range and blue in the 9:01-10:30 range.

In my latest assessment the ranges were really wide where my green started a little slower than 7:00 (which makes sense since I have improved my endurance in my previous plans) but the bottom of the green zone stretched to about 9:45 and the bottom of the blue zone was like 18:00.

Did micoach change the way the assessments were measured or is it more likely that my phone's GPS tracking is off when I run my assessment for some reason?  The only reason why I doubt the latter is because I just completed a workout plan and there were no issues as far as that goes.

I did manually change my zones but I really like the assessment setting them for you.

  • Hi MakosMB,

    Thanks for the post.

I can confirm that there hasn't been any change made for measuring the assessment workout.

I think this might have been caused due to GPS signal. As you are using the miCoach mobile App for the assessment workout, the GPS signal can affect the assessment workout data. You need to have a good GPS signal for the data accuracy.

Check the route of your assessment workout recorded by GPS and see if the recorded route is correct. If GPS is low or lost, it means that the signal is coming in less frequent and will give less accuracy. This will cause loss of the GPS points needed to draw the respective route hence, the route may be inaccurate which may also affect the total distance of your workout and calculation of speed/pace.

Which mobile phone do you have?

Place your phone in an armband or elsewhere so that the phone has good exposure to the sky and the GPS connection. It should be noted that when the phone is in your pocket, the GPS data might not be very optimal.
For more information on the position of the antenna on your specific phone model, please refer to your phone provider.

Also make sure that you do your assessment workout in an open area where there are no big trees and brigde or tunnel.

    Thanks,
