This question has been Answered.

Hi,

First up, I'm completely new to miCoach! I don't have a gym nearby, but I want to be able to run using the GPS outdoor mode.

I drew a couple of routes on miCoach online, and all I really want to be able to do is tell it what sort of pace I want to aim for, and for it to synchronise the route I drew and tell me to speed up or slow down to match that pace as I run.

At the moment, I can't see what the point in being able to draw routes online actually is, because as far as I can tell I can't see those routes on my iPhone!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • My vote goes to this too.

You should be able to choose which route you're running BEFORE you start your run. If the GPS loses signal for any length of time then it should assume that you followed your pre-determined route then, and not just stick a straight line in from the point at which signal was lost.

      • Sorry for any confusion. I was stating that I agree with you. You *should* be able to choose your running route before you start, but you can't.

miCoach comes so close to being perfect for my needs but it's little oversights like this that are keeping me from fully switching over. I'm just hopeful that with Nike and Adidas going head to head in this area that at the very least they'll try to beat each other's apps so things can only get better. I think they rushed this app out as it doesn't even utilise iOS 4's features like backgrounding.

  • With all the new mobile features being added to miCoach, this feature didn't make it into the first release. As with any product offering, it's good to come out with a first rev and then watch the customer feedback to help prioritize features for the next release.

Thanks for taking the time to post this. Anyone else out there a big fan of this capability? There is a new topic created to capture customer feature requests. I've added this one to the list for discussion.

    • I'm in favour of it too. I didn't know about this forum trail before spending 20 minutes on putting a route together!

If it could be added it would be great

      Cheers

    • That's a desired capability here as well.

    • I would definitely agree that this would be an awesome feature to include.

    • first of all, i love the app and am using it versus previously purchased Apps (iphone ... nike, runkeeper, etc).

being able to run a specific distance based on a rounte (as in 20 miles 3 weeks before 26.2) to get used to the route, pace and environment is extremely important.  i made the route and the natural next step is to assign it to your schedule.

    • I am also in favour of this feature

    • Count me in!

      Hello all,

Yesterday I also created a route on my laptop, thinking I can also acces the route on my BB bold 9700.

When I started the app, I couldn't find the route anywere.

So I thought looking here on the forum for the answer.

I saw that it didn't make it into the first edition.

That was August last year.....so I am no wondering if it will be added and when.

      Can someone help out?
      Thanks

      Menno

    • Yes, routes made on the website to be loaded in Mobile.

      IDEEA:

Why not browse routes of friends by city and region who share them on the website?

      ADVANTAGES:

      - Compare time with friends.

      - Meet friends which agree to share routes and partnership.

      - Competition.

      - Go someplace and you want to run I the best starred routes from there... most eco...  different other stuff.

    • I would love this functionality.... I have loads of runs that I do, so it would be nice to use miCoach to manage my performance around them.

It would also be good if you could set a baseline time for each run, and then set the time you want to achieve for each subsequent run. miCoach would then guide you to achieve that time. For example, you do a run for the first time in 30 mins. Then you want to do the same run in 28 mins. Would be good if miCoach could then guide you to achieve that time. This would be a killer feature.... I use the Android app...

    • Dear Jon,

Thanks for the big effort in making miCoach better.

What is the best place to find the newest features/prioritize list?

      Thanks.

      Jeroen

    • add it.

      Thanks.

  • yes please i would love to be able to do that.

    • If you wanted to really expand on that idea you could give directions according to the route

Not just turn left or right but using the topographical data google provides you could also alert users to up or down hill stretches and give guidance as to the best pacing to give max results without over exertion

It would take a bit of implementation but it's an idea to float around your developers meeting

  • I agree, this would be a great feature.

  • Agree too, would be a great feature

  • I would *love* this feature too. The route tracker is great for working out my planned distance but it would be even better if this then synced to my blackberry so i can run the route.

  • Just to add to the list - I too would love to have this feature added.

Please add in a future update

  • That would be great!

  • Please add this at the next update!

  • this would complete this app!! fingers crossed

  • great idea... would definitely be very useful.

  • Me too!

  • It seems to me that this is a no brainer!  Why have the ability to map a route if you can't drop that route into a scheduled workout?

So you can enter in a manual workout with an accurate distance.

Currently, this feature is targeting miCoach members that may not have a mobile that can run the miCoach app or have not purchased the miCoach Pacer kit. I've added this request to the priority list.

  • Would love this feature as well!!!!!

  • Another vote for adding this feature to the next release.. By the way, when is the next release coming out?

  • fully agree with the request of such new feature

  • This feature would be so helpfuland complete the app

  • I think adding the routes created on the website would really complete the App and truely make the website and the iPhone work together properly giving a massively enhanced running experience. I am currently trialling this alongside Runkeper Pro. The ease of use of MiCoach brings it level in my enjoyment and adding this feature would definitely tip the scales towards MiCoach from Runkeeper Pro. Runkeeper Pro was free on iTunes yesterday but I dont know how long for, but as both Apps are free at the moment I am trying both.       :o)

    • Firstly, this is a fantastic app, but would definitely benefit from adding functionality to run your pre-determined route. Otherwise I don't really see the point of saving routes on the online version. Any update from the Moderator on this? the first thread was posted some time ago.

      • for me micoach is perrfect tool.....but i would like if possible for example...when i run a free workout ex. on my hill...and update it on micoach profile..to use that route for my next run!

so just like...save it on micoach acc...than export it to my iphone and use it for run!that would be fantastic asset to this great adidas product!

  • It would be helpful if I could draw a loop in then the app would give me turn by turn directions (preferably with street names; perhaps it coud utilize google maps directions for this).  When I first set up my 5k loop (used another site to set it up) I had to have a piece of paper in my pocket to reference until I memorized the loop.

I haven't had any issues with the gps cutting out on my blackberry 9700 but being able to select a route in adance would increase accuracy if it were to lose signal (which I could see being a potetial issue when I get into trail running).

However, if having to choose, I'd rather see a chest strap heart rate monitor that can use bluetooh to work with my blackberry app.

  • i think this would be a handy feauture as well

  • I agree, I assumed that was what the routes bit was for, to map your route and then the micoach helps you run it by maintaining your pace. Would love to see this functionality added!

  • We would also like to see this functionality in the next release. Any time-frame we can hope for?

    thanks for the great app!

  • Sorry everyone I know that I'm bringing back an old post but I am also new to Micoach and came to the form to find the same information.

I am testing the difference between this app and the nike one, to see which one fits me better. I really like the coaching and planning features ofthis app, and there would have been no reason to continue checking out the nike app if i could load my routes.

  • I would be keen to use a feature like that. I just made a couple of routes on the website and might forget a couple of the more subtle turns without the map in hand to follow on the phone!

    • Hello,

sorry if this has been done to death but could not locate a recent post or any info on the website on how to assign routes.

Has or is this facility been added or going to be added. My iPone App in Explore states

'Routes' save it your list for for future assignment.    How please?

      Borbs

      • Hi Borbs,

        Thanks for the post.

If you run with the miCoach App then you can have a GPS route for the workout.

When you log on to the miCoach website then you go to the workout results and about the graphs you have the GPS route.

You need to click on this and then add it to your saved routes.

This can then be applied to workouts on the same route that don't have any routes on them. (view the workout graphs, click on the GPS Route - which should be grey - add the route to that workout)

You can also edit the route and save this as a separate route.

This will not, however, be used during a run. i.e. like a sat nav system that tells you when you are off the route.

        I hope this helps,

        Cheers,

        Rugby13

        • Hi Rugby13,

Do I get it right I can't do a run workout with a previously created route. I can only do my run by set time. Not by a set route?

          Thank You!

          Gabor

ps - great app by the way

          • Hi Gabor,

            just to follow Rugby13 ...

As you said, unfortunately, you cannot run a workout with a previously created route. Rather, the route will be recorded by the GPS while you are running outdoors, then you will be able to see your route after syncing your device.

The only way you can follow a training and get coaching instructions is by selecting one of the available plans at the website. Of course you can also do your own customized workouts and follow them too.

            • Thanks for the quick respons!

Since I know the lenght of the route is 5 km is it possible to create a workout that coaches me to run 5 km in 25 minutes?

              Best,

              Gábor

              • Hi GaborH,

Thanks for the quick reply! Yes, it is possible to do it. You can try one of the training plans for 5km that we have available in the website. Go to Plan>Training Plans>Running and then pick either Run a Race or Finish Faster and you will see special workouts for 5km training.

Also, it is possible for you to create a custom workout. To do that, go to Manage>Schedule and click on Single Workouts. Once there, click on Build your Own. Once you created it, you will see it appear and then just drag it to the date you want and sync your device. Just make sure that if you are using the mobile App, the workout you created is compatible.

If you have further questions just send another reply.

                Cheers!
