For a run to be considered a sprint, how fast must you run?

  • |
  • It's not a universal fact.

It depends on your physique, how tall, how heavy, how fit are you. Some need to sprint to reach 20 km/h and some run 10 miles at that speed.

I guess it's more a matter of technique than speed to determine is something is a sprint or not, there is a big difference in technique between running fast or sprinting.

  • Hi CoachBilly38,

    Thanks for the question.

Within the football app, Yellow and Red zones (set in your web account based on your personal information such as gender, age, height and weight) are considered a SPRINT. This is because 'accelerating' into yellow is a 'sprinting' effort even though you may not get to red due to a change in direction common in a game situation.

Be assured that miCoach only counts the # of times you cross the yellow as a sprints, not the time spent.

So please check your yellow and red pace zone set in your web account under Settings> Training. You have to reach at least bottom of yellow pace zone to be considered as sprint.

Hope I was able to answer your question.

    Thanks,

    • How about the app using GPS? when is something considered a sprint during a workout?

      • Hi Muldertje,

        Thanks for posting.

The miCoach App does not take into consideration sprints or something similar. It does includes splits which lets you know in how much time you ran your fastest KM. The miCoach App also measures distance, pace, stride rate and calories burned. The sprints are only measured on the miCoach Football App. I hope this makes it clearer.

        Regards,
