I have been using Micoach for my football (soccer) training plans, and currently use the Soccer Cardio Level 5.  I completed an assessment run before starting this plan and my zones were something like:

(These are only approximate as these got reset)

Blue     10.00 - 6.30

Green     6.30 - 5.30

Yellow    5.30 - 4.30

Red        4.30 - 2.00

Then I got the Speedcell for my birthday and used it in a game.  All good, worked well and synced perfectly.  So I went for a run a couple of days later, the next one in my plan, and even in the warmup, although I was running, it was telling me to speed up to blue zone.  It was then hard to stay in the green zone, and to get into yellow was a serious effort.

Through a bit of research it seems that the Speedcell adjusts the Micoach zones based on data recorded in the game, so when I sprint to catch players, get to the ball etc it then makes that the top of my red zone.  This then made the green / yellow boundary 2:50 m/km - which should mean I could easily run a sub 30m 10k - which I cannot.

I did a new assessment run, but after my game tomorrow, this will probably be reset.  I don't want to have to do an assessment before every training run!

So is there a way of having Micoach record the data, but not affect the zones?  Or alternatively have the micoach football app base itself on the Micoach training zones / data?

  • Hi benwood,

    thanks for posting.

I see... I understand how this can be an issue as it is not ideal to make an assessment run every time you want to do a cardio training. I am aware of the changes of the zones when using SPEED_CELL and what you say is right. Your top of red will change according to the last max speed you achieved during the game and it make sense that the boundaries of the other zones will change too. Since not a lot of users use the SPEED_CELL for both activities I am not sure if there is a way to have the SPEED_CELL to record the data and once you sync it to not affect the zones you previously had according with your Assessment Workout. However, I will pass this question to our engineers and as soon as I have some feedback I will let you know.

    Your patience will be appreciated.
