Hi there.

I recently purchased a heart monitor to use on my iPhone but no matter how hard i try i just cant seem to get into the yellow zone. I can just about get there when i use the phone settings to use pace but not when it is set to use heart rate. Am i doing something wrong. I even tried to train indoors on a treadmill on incline to get heart rate up< i seem to run out of steam before i get there. Saying that is it really beneficial i train in the yellow zone?

Thanks Graham

  • You need to do a assecement workout firts so the app can set your heartrate zones.

  • Hi gnt64a,

    Thanks for the post.

Olip9 is right. You may need to do an assessment workout to adjust your heart rate zones.

miCoach interprets your data from your assessment workout to update your heart rate training zones. This helps ensure that miCoach is personalised to you, providing you with accurate data, results and recommendations. It’s always a good idea to do an Assessment Workout, whether you train with a miCoach plan or not.

You can find a useful blog post about the assessment workout  here.

    Hope this helps.

    • Hi to you all

This is my first time on here and I too am having problems with getting and keeping to the yellow zone.

I got the micoach app on my HTC phone, I did an assessment run as I am in training for the great north run. I'm now following the plan and I'm on pace as I don't have a heart monitor.

I've twice had a run now which had me reaching the yellow zone, I've managed to get in the yellow zone but find that I have to stop cause I struggle. On my last run I think I pushed myself too hard and then struggled to breath which panicked me.

Just one last thing and that is, I've missed my last 3 runs due to illness and I can't get these runs back as my plan already has me training 4 times a week.

Can somebody offer me any advice please.

      Thanks

      Darren
