Got a Speedcell and  F50s for my son. Initially the speedcell refused to be seen by MiCoach app. Replaced the battery then called tech support who told me it had to be more than 6" from the shoe to work. At this point the Iphone MiCoach app could see the sensor and also the MiSoccer app could register the device but no game data could be uploaded. I re-installed the MiSoccer app on my phone and managed to get 2 games worth of data uploaded to the phone and synced with the MiCoach website. Now the SpeedCell again refuses to sync data (2 games worth). Sees the sensor fine, can register it etc etc. but everytime I try to get the data from the SpeedCell....

 

"There has been a problem connecting to your MiCoach SPEED_CELL. This could happen if the MiCoach SPEED_CELL is too far from the device or your battery is empty. Please try again"

 

Getting really frustrated with this product. Beginning to think I spent $180 on a very poorly tested product. Anyone here have any ideas?

  • Me too.  Super frustrated with this product.  Shelled out $260 for the shoes and sensor, and the Connect won't find the device and when it does I get the same stinking error.

    Sorry to hear that you've been getting this error every time you try synching your SPEED_CELL.

     

    I understand that this can be frustrating.

     

    Regarding this issue, please check the following steps:

     

    1. Make sure that the SPEED_CELL is within the range (within 10 meters but no closer than 6 inches from the CONNECT for iPhone/iPod) and that the SPEED_CELL is activated (shake your SPEED_CELL as it can be activated by the movement.).
    2. Close Sports App (double click iPhone home button and hold the App icon to stop App completely) and start it again.
    3. Turn your iPhone off and on again.

     

    If this doesn't help, please send an email to our support team using Help>Contact Us section with your iPhone model and OS version of your iPhone.

    • I also have had this issue & the only way i have found round it is rebooting my iphone, which in my opinion isn't good enough, please can you guys look into why a reboot fixes the issue?

       

      can anyone post if they have no problems with above!

        We are always improving the miCoach App and we take your feedback about issues with the App very seriously.

    • So why doesn't this product work with the iPhone 4s?  I keep getting "This Accesory doesn't work with iPhone" when I plug it in. 

       

      And now I am getting an Error logging in: unknown error. What is the deal with this lemon of a product?  I have played two games now and it doesn't work.  WHY???

       

      It doesn't find the sensor.  I have wasted so much time trying to follow the steps, erase the app, reinstall the app and set up the device again that I want to return the product.  It really stinks. 

       

      Get you stuff fixed Adidas.  The F50s are great though...

  • had the excatly same problem here.. i'v sent email to the adidas supporting last time but their solution replied wasn't good enough, so i just leave it( as i can use it on the running apps, although football is my priority)..

     

    last week i went to the shop where i purchase this speedcell to find out a good solution for this, they promise to refer to their consultant later and will gimme a call once they decide on something but till now no news from them!

     

    felt so disappointing adidas is the leading sporting brand but can't even use properly on their top technology stuff.. i'v waste Malaysia's money RM750 for the boots and 350 for speedcell, sometimes i regret on what i purchase and prefer to use "Nxxx" brand instead of these althou i love adidas very much...

      I feel your frustration and understand completely.  Are you not able to pair the SPEED_CELL with the app, or not able to sync your workout out to the web?  or both?  Please let me know and also give me details of when this last happened.  Was it this morning?

        nope, actually i had this problem since the begining, but i just realise that few weeks later after i decide to try it out with my newly bought F50, bcause before this i able to connect with the mobile apps on my iPod 4G.

         

        after remove and reinstall the soccer apps several times, i manage to pair my speedcell after many times attempt of pairing.. but still i can't sync my speed cell into my ipod after added the device.. it keep saying that:

         

        "There has been a problem connecting to your MiCoach SPEED_CELL. This could happen if the MiCoach SPEED_CELL is too far from the device or your battery is empty. Please try again"

         

        while i already put it as close as posible, and i it's not battery problem since i can use it on mobile apps.. so speedcell it's atcully kinda useless for me, except i can use it in running~

        • Hi DanielC0208,

           

          Ok, let's see how I can help you here.  You first went to Settings, Manage Devices, and then added the SPEED_CELL.  The device was added and you saw it on your list of managed devices, correct?  Then you set it as your default device also?  Once you have saved it and made it the default device, you do not need to use the add devices button again.

           

          After your workout/training, you went back to the main page and hit sync at the top right.  Simultaneously, you are activating the SPEED_CELL by lightly tapping on it while it is within 10 meters of the CONNECT.  This is what you are doing right? 

           

          If you are still getting the error after doing this, (and you have already tried quitting the app and restarting plus testing the SPEED_CELL battery life), then it would be great if you could reply with a screenshot of the error dialogue that you wrote in the above post.

            unfortunately it doesn't really help, that's a big problem right on the beginning of pairing stage..

             

            before i manage to pair my iPod with my current speedcell, i had to search for my speedcell(setting, "+add device" button) up to almost 40 times, saying that my speedcell is not in the detecting range while i place it just few cm's beside it. after so many times, then only it succefully search it once! even after i shake it, give it a little nudge, tab on the speedcell for so long.

             

            then here's a second question im still curious with, i saw other people said that after pairing succefully a 5 digit number will appear on the screen, am i right? but mine is only FOUR @.@ it almost makes me mad when i saw this but later on i don't care, just as long as it can use..

             

            after the device added, i also found out that i can't set my password on my speedcell, screen showing that got a connetion problem with my speedcell.. so what i do is i skip from setting password and device name, directly i save it as default device. and i assume the pairing job is done.

             

            the next day i wore my speedcell and trying to sync it after my game but fail, saying again same old story that had a problem connecting or no battery with my speedcell..

             

            i'v uninstall and reinstall this soccer apps few times. at the beginning i suspect that my iPod connector has spoil, or even suspect that speedcell i bought is fake product since it just show 4 digits after detecting it. but think it doesn't make sense since the speedcell work perfectly with mobile apps while im running and i bought it in original Adidas outlet..

             

            it's kinda complicated, that's why i prefer to face to face discussion with the outlet superviser i went, but till now they still havent give me a reply yet! but i'll try to attach some screenshot after this..

              I've received further feedback from the app development team and I hope that it might help you.  I know that you were finally able to add your SPEED_CELL to the app.  Then you were able to set it as a default device, but not with a passkey.  After a training, you tried to sync the SPEED_CELL data, and it gave you the error dialogue, which is your last screenshot below.  One thing that stood out was that you say you placed the SPEED_CELL only a few centimeters beside the iPod.  The development team wants to stress that it should be within 10 meters, but not closer than 16 centimeters.  If the SPEED_CELL is placed too close, then there is a big chance that the app cannot recognize it.  This is an issue that we are finding various users having. 

               

              I suggest that you try moving the SPEED_CELL away, by at least 16 centimeters, gently tap it, and try syncing again.  If you could let me know how this goes, I would appreciate it.  And then we will go from there.   I know you have taken many steps so far, but I thank you for your continued cooperation.

            then on my 7th refresh, finally i got it, here's the 4 digit instead of 5 digit i mentioned about, can admin confirm with this is this normal if 4 digit?

              Thanks for taking me through it with the screenshots!  I hear you clear as a bell.   There are indeed other users that have a 4-digit SPEED_CELL number when they add the device, and their SPEED_CELLs are working.  So I'm not sure that the amount of digits is the problem. 

               

              I am making a case and forwarding it to the developers and it will include your screenshots, thread link, and what you have tried so far. 

               

              I will get back to you as soon as I have more information.

  • yep i always get the message there is a problem connecting to your iphones speed cell could be because of battery or your speed cell is too far away. had this for a week and gone for so many kicks and only managed to sink it once. just played my first game for the season and still nothing. really dissappointing. think im just gonna return it for the computer version providing research doesnt show problems with that as well.

  • I just bought the Speed Cell few days ago after getting a AdiRose 2.5. i tried countless time to get the SpeedCell to be added to my Micoach Basketball and kept failing me. So i brough it back to shop who sold me this. I got it replaced and tried at the shop and found it recognzied and added. I was so happy and went home. THEN i showing off to my basketball mates about the Adirose 2.5 with the Speed Cell...when syncing data, it says.."There has been a problem connecting to your MiCoach SPEED_CELL. This could happen if the MiCoach SPEED_CELL is too far from the device or your battery is empty. Please try again" I tried to remove the Speed Cell from the device list and trying to add it back again...nightmare came. I cant even find the Speed Cell on iphone! Micoach Basketball cant find it! GOsh... however, normal micoach recognized it as a stride sensor...and i dont need that as i have the combo set of heart rate sensor with the ORIGINAL stride sensor! I NEED SPEED CELL.

     

    How i rate this SpeedCell? 1 out of 10. its really disappointing as it always fail Every users!

      Thanks for writing.  We want to help.  Perhaps you have done all the following, but since I cannot be sure, please make sure that you have taken the following steps:

       

      - Make sure the SPEED_CELL is within 10 meters and that you lightly tap the SPEED_CELL to activate it

      - Next try taking the CONNECT dongle out and putting it back in securely.

      - Next try closing the app completely and reopening it

      - Then turn your phone off completely and then back on.

       

      If you have tried all the above and still are not able to pair your device, then please contact the miCoach support team.

       

      Let them know the model and OS version you have, which app, and what you have tried so far.   Give them as much detail as possible and they will assist you as best they can!

  • Inconsistent and aggravating!!!

    I also have had the same problems, however I have managed to download some of the workouts after turning off my phone and rebooting.  I also tried aiming the receiver at the sensor, and various yoga positions to get the thing to download my workouts. 

    At one point, I thought that the battery was dead, so I went ahead and replaced, only to find out that when you take out the battery it wipes out all info on the speedcell. 

    Today, I actually had the files start to download, a progress bar was up and after a minute it went away, so did the workout.  I LOST THE WHOLE WORKOUT!

     

    This has been the worse experience with an Adidas product, and if only I could download my workouts without hassle or losing information, I would give it an 1 out of 10 as well.  10 of 10 if the thing worked because when it does, it is a great tool for soccer training.

      I'm sorry to hear that the experience has been frustrating for you!  Yes, it's not good that you had to learn through trial and error, but taking out the battery erases all workouts that weren't synced to the web.

       

      We want you to have a great experience with miCoach and want it to be an excellent tool for your soccer training.  If you continue to have this issue where the syncing ends mid-stream, then please send a message to the miCoach support team.  Let them know which model, OS version, and app you are using.  Also let them know what, if any, error you are getting when this happens. Lastly let them know the steps that you have taken so far.

  • It's a nightmare trying to connect/paired the speed cell with my iPad 2/iPhone. I spent well over $80 for it and it is a piece of junk. It took me a million times trying to pair it and finally it's paired but cannot sync. I even spent $8 for a new battery which I thought was the problem. I thought it would be simple but obviously it is not. I've tried everything that was in the tutorial and forum but no luck. I've just reinstalled the micoach football and now I cannot pair AGAIN.  I need an answer urgently, I spent a lot of money on a pair of new F50 with the speed cell. I am not going to spend the rest of my life trying to figure this out.

  • I have just bought the speed cell and I have the exact same problem as everyone else here. I really wish I had read all this before I spent my money on it. It was supposed to be a treat and has turned out to be a nightmare.

     

    My device cannot be seen by the Soccer App although it can be seen by the miCoach general app. As a computer programmer myself I can only assume that the programming on the Soccer App is pathetic and that will be why Adidas cant give an answer here other than the usual IT solution to everything ... have you tried switching it off and back on again!!!

     

    Come on Adidas get your act together or you will soon find that people are not switching their app off and on but actually switching their brand. I for one am refusing to use my new boots as these will be getting returned along with the speedcell if it doesnt work.

     

    As something that is only available on the top of the range boots it should have been thoroghly tested before being released. All you have done is make Adidas look like a bunch of monkeys.

     

    Anyone reading this before thinking about buying there here is some advice for you ... try www.nike.com first.

      seems like Adidas still didnt react on these issue since we given them this wake up call..

      ohh well, since the Nxxx fuel band still not avaiable in my country yet, i guess still need to stick with this speedcell first hmmm...

      • I have found a short term solution.

         

        Even though I knew my speedcell worked I took it back to the shop and showed how it wouldnt be found. My phone did find plenty of other speedcells in the shop so I just told the shopkeeper to change mine to one it did find.

         

        Since then I havent had any problems.

         

        So anyone having trouble then just take your phone / laptop to the shop with you and dont leave until Adidas give you something that works on your machine.

  • After more than 4 hours of trying and trying and charging my ipod because of the excesive usage of the dongle, my device was detected!!! whoa great!... nah, it was detected but it still doesn't makes me happy, it would be great if i didn't have the same issue of everybody here. Even it would be great is we didn't have this problem!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I really think Adidas should try to fix this working hand by hand with DIGITAL LEGENDS ENTERTAINMENT, the developers of the miCoach Football and Running apps so this problem could be solved by releasing an app update or some that could make this recognize the speed_cell instantly.

     

    Hope they can do something, I've been reading this forums and there's a lot of users feeling dissapointed with this.

  • I have the same problem here. Both on my Iphone 4s and IPAD2, I have tried to detect the SpeedCell from the adidas soccer application and it does not find it. I have tried at least 20 times, restarting the application, restarting the device, disconnecting the connect. Nothing worked.

    The speedcell works with my Iphone with the MiCoach app. I am able to use the speedcell as my stride sensor.Also I have checked the battery voltage and it is 2.97V which is OK. If you need anymore information from my devices to help you troubleshoot my problem, please let me know.

      I am sorry you are having issues with your SPEED_CELL. I've seen you tried to restart and to reset the device, which are always good steps to try here. Also see that your SPEED_CELL is being recognized as a Stride Sensor by the miCoach App. For your case, I would appreciate if you can test your SPEED_CELL with the other Sports Apps (Running, Basketball, Tennis) to see if there is a difference between them.

       

      As a side note, miCoach CONNECT is not compatible with the iPad. Even though you and other users have been successful using the device with it, the compatibility is not official. For those reasons, at the moment we recommend to use the CONNECT only with the iPhone/iPod.

  • Hi Guys,

     

    There is a new info regarding pairing/synching SPEED_CELL via iPhone. Please have a look at our post here.

     

    If you are experiencing issue with Football App, alternatively try the steps below:

     

    1. Download any of the other Sports Apps (Running, Basketball, Tennis)
    2. Launch the App
    3. Add device
    4. Go back to the main menu and ask the user to sync
    5. If the syncing is successful, edit the data.

    6. Then when assigning the data, choose the Football (Soccer) option from the scrolling menu.

    7. Go back to the main menu and sync the App to the website

    8.  login to your miCoach account and check on history the latest workout. You can check your football data in your web account.
