I got very surprised this morning by the new module in miCoach family: miCoach CONNECT !!!

No need to search for 3rd party appliances to have miCoach mobile app (iPhone) to be my workout monitor.

Also, it’s nice to have the iPhone app able for Heart Rate coaching!!!

PS1: Very good timing, now that my miCoach Pacer is almost out of order with the 2 beep problem!

PS2: I don’t know if I am gonna need it in the future…!

  • It would be good if you could buy the iPhone connector on its own as I already have a Pacer so I already have the heart rate monitor.

      • You have better eyesight than I do. The only place I can see information about the Connect is the online store where it's listed with the HRM for £60. Do you have a link?

          • I see it now. It's not working on the UK site but when I chose the US site it worked fine.

  • I've ordered one (with the hrm & strap so i'll have a spare ). looking forward to trying it out - hopefully will be more reliable than my pacer has been of late.

  • Thinking about ordering but I'm guessing this will not fit in the miCoach armband...

Anyone got the miCoach Connect and the miCoach Griffin iPhone armband (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Griffin-Adidas-Coach-Armband-iPhone/dp/B0042YHC38) ?

    • Good point. Dunno, but I guess I'll find out soon enough.... will report back.

I made a slight cutout at the bottom of the armband so that the CONNECT could slide out of the pouch. It has been working for me throughout testing. If you are using the stride sensor as well then wear the armband on the same side as the shoe you put the stride sensor on.

Some of the really cool features that this adds to the iPhone app are:

      1. Support for iPod touch (one of the most asked for features by consumers on the app store)
      2. Support for Heart Rate based coaching (Very accurate coaching triggers)
      3. Improved calorie calculations when wearing a Heart Rate monitor (Get more credit when running up a hill)
      4. Support for indoor workouts using the stride sensor (no more reason to stop using miCoach mobile when it gets too cold outside)
      5. Improved accuracy for running outdoors when using GPS and stride sensor (GPS keeps track for mapping while the stride sensor keeps an accurate distance calculation - even when GPS signals are weak or innacurate due to high buildings or dense tree coverage)

      Have fun!

      • Sounds like a good idea.

Was going to buy this http://shop.adidas.co.uk/product/SB491/V42040/Sports/micoach-Connect-Heart-Rate-Monitor-For-Ipod-Iphone/detail.jsf but you mentioned the pacer. Is it worth getting a pacer as well and if so where can I buy just the pacer on its own?

Cannot find the miCoach Connect on its own so the bundle is the only option

The Pacer is a great option for when you want to run with as little extra weight as possible and/or you don't want to risk dropping your expensive iPhone

That's why I recommend the arm band.

          • Oh right ok. The iPhone on my arm doesnt really bother me so will just stick with it. Ordered the Connect and HRM and will have to make the modifications when I get it.

Would it be possable to get a picture of what its looks like with the connect hanging outside the case please?

              • Thanks for that

              • Will that not cause issues with moisture (sweat, rain) getting to the phone (dock connector, mic, speaker etc.)?

Any plans for a version of the case that is compatible with the micoach connect?

              • photo 1.JPGphoto 2.JPG

Made my hole a bit smaller. Fits really tight (iPhone 4) and will be trying it out tomorrow.

                • Stewling, do you need to keep the screen on when using the CONNECT or can you tun the screen off while running just like when you run GPS only?

                  • I havent tried turning off the screen yet but I got a message when I first connected the Connect device that said not to put micoach in the background or it loses info. I havent experimented with it, but if thats true, its kind of a bummer since I like to also use SynchStep to select music while I'm running which also cannot be in the background. Other than that issue the MiCoach Connect is awesome.

        • Why is this not on the US site yet? What's the hold up?

  • Hello,  I'm curious if the miCoach Connect will be available for other phones or just the iPhone?

    Thank you.

    • Might be harder to make.
All Android phones have micro usb but I think the problem is where the port is located. My Nexus One it is at the bottom but my brothers Android phone its at the top right side. This could cause some problems...

What phone you want it for? Might be worth stating your phone because they might be looking for popular phones to add support too.

      • the newest Sony models have ANT+ radios inside already. Should be pretty easy to jack into that.

          • Any idea when a new version for android will come out that suports ant+ for phone with integrated ant+ recepetion like the (SE X10mini)?

            Please, Please Adidas

      • I have the new Samsung Infuse.  It's the new android phone available from AT&T.  It does have the USB port at the bottom of the phone just like the iPhone.  I figured it would be awhile for the androids as the mobile app was only recently made available.  Maybe someday.  I wouldn't care/want it if my pacer was working.

  • that is awesome!
