I searched this forum for tips on where to buy the Zone, but doing as suggested (i.e., going to www.shop.adidas.com and searching for "micoach") ended up in the website not finding the product.  Has it been discontinued or is it just temporarily out of stock?  I am located in the US; can i just walk into an Adidas store and buy one?

I'm running a half marathon in April and can't wait to get started with my Zone!!

  • Not an answer to your question but : are you aware that the Zone does not sync with micoach.com like the pacer ? You're missing out on all the training programs, coaching during the run and review of data afterwards. Zone only helps you to see where you are during the run.

I would not be surprised if it is discontinued, since in terms of features it is really no competition to all the other HRM out there, adidas or other. And if you want just a simple HRM then there are many cheaper options (I used one of 20 Euro for some time)

  • I emailed MiCoach support to ask where I could find a Zone-  This was their reply:

Dear HalifaxKim,  Thank you for your email and your interest in our products.  Regarding the micoach Zone unfortunately it is not available in most of the shops at the moment due to the battery issue. We will keep you informed if we have any undated information about the new micoach zone and my sincere apologies for all inconvenience.  Thank you so much for your kind understanding and wish you have a nice Friday.  Kind regards miCoach team

I replied asking if the plan was to get it back on the market or if it was being discontinued indefinitely. I received no response to that. I figured the Zone+phone app would work for me. Anyway....I'll post again if I hear anything back from them.....

    I hope this is a help...   ~kim~

    • I wish I could get a Zone here in Nova Scotia! I'm toying with the idea of a Pacer but not sure if I really need it since my blackberry app works great and keeps all my data (other than HR). Let me know how you make out with your Pacer as compared with your experience using mobile for data. I'm wondering also about syncing your online account with a different device after you've already got it going using the original device (you would probably know the answer to that as it would apply to your situation I think, especially if you have since figured ou how to get it to log only ONCE per workout!). Keep us posted on that one too. I'm still going to hunt for a Zone for now because I just want to add my HR to the other data, and I like the idea of a light indicating which zone you're in at a quick glance (I have a tendency to overtrain)....anyway, thanks in advance for your feedback  ;-)  ~kim  (I might have to hunt down your SF store and see if they'll ship to Canada!)

        • Hi Shobi-  Thanks for your help...I phoned the store in SF and they told me they wouldn't ship it to me, or take my order over the phone, but to go to the Adidas on-line store. I explained that he Adidas on-line store won't sell them and she told me she couldn't help me....so the only way I could get one is to go to the store-unfortunately across the continent from me (I'm in NS) and my brother in CA lives in Victorville...too far from SF so per usual I'm SOL. Too bad...so disappointing. Since the Zones are recalled I'm surprised Adidas hasn't pulled them out of that store. She told me she had some there still. SO CLOSE! I really appreciate your help, though!    ~kim~

  • Yeah, it's definetely wierd that it is on the website but not in most stores and you can't purchase it from the website. when i was in the addidas store here (New York City) the sales rep told me that I should check back in a few weeks towards the end of March/ top of April to see if they had the Zone available. I went ahead and purchased the pacer kit as I suspected if I waited a few weeks for the Zone my resolve to start running would have deminished greatly.

    • Well I must say that if advertiing Zones and then not providing them is Adidas' latest market ploy to sell Pacers, it's really working well for them. I would hope it's not deliberate, but as long as people are buying the more expensive Pacers I guess there's not much motivation for them to fix the Zone battery issue. On principle alone I can't let myself buy one. The Pacer is more expensive and the product I want is a Zone so I guess I'll wait. I wonder how long it takes a huge corporation like Adidas to fix a battery problem? In the meantime I LOVE MiCoach, the website etc and would be very disappointed to have to buy something from another company. I will also be VERY DISAPPOINTED if they pull the Zone out completely. I understand about wanting to strike while the iron's hot with the motivation to run, and I almost caved to a Pacer for the same reason, so I sure don't blame you for going that route. Presently I'm looking at a FitBit (also unavailable in Canada so my brother in CA will have to send me one). The FitBit monitors calories burned PLUS sleep patterns. Even if I do get one, I will still get the Zone when it becomes available---FINGERS CROSSED!!!!!   ;-)  ~kim~

      • Hey,

I came across this thread when looking for reviews on the Zone as I too want to purchase one.

Anyways...I found a website which is selling Zones in the USA which may be of use to you?  I didn't check if they ship to Canada but maybe your brother could ship it to you?

        Anyways...the website link is:

        http://www.simplyrun.co.uk/products/sports-watches-speed-and-distance-watches/2695-adidas-micoach-zone-%28q00147%29.html

Hope that helps-and happy running :-)

        • Thanks so much...I really appreciate your help. In the end I caved in and bought a Pacer, although it was supposed to arrive by today at the latest and hasn't so hopefully next week (last weekend's holiday probably slowed down the process). I decided I really wanted a product that would sync with MiCoach because I TOTALLY love it. After being unable to get a fitbit I caved in and bought a Garmin Forerunner 305 and hated it so I took it back and ordered the Pacer instead. I didn't like the Garmin set-up for my computer and had no luck getting it to sync with the online set-up. I am so accustomed to the user-friendliness of the MiCoach website I took the Garmin back for a refund and ordered the Pacer. Now I can't wait for it to arrive in time for the last few weeks of my half-marathon training. Meanwhile I'll continue using my phone app....   ;-)   ~kim~

  • Hey guys,

I had the same problem and couldn't find miCoach Zone anywhere - it was sold out in every Adidas store in NYC. I found few on AMAZON.com but they were overpriced. Spoke to the rep in customer relations at Adidas and they informed me that they are out of stock and have next shipment planned for May 28th. Will call then and try to order mine over the phone. micoach pacer is great but its hard to switch between zones fast enough - ZONE would be a great help to to transition between different zones and get a perfect score on your workout .

    Good luck everyone

    Martin

  • Are there any updates when this will be available on the online store? While having the pacer and center button pushes will tell you your heart rate and zone, instant visual feedback would be infinitely superior.

    • For visual feedback you can also combine the heart rate monitor and footpod with another ANT+ compatible product (and still continue to use the pacer). I bought a garmin forerunner 60 on ebay for 40 euro (just the watch) and it works perfectly. On top of that you get the additional features like the virtual coach which displays how far you are behind or in front of your desired average race pace. And auto pause, auto lap etc.

  • Does anyone know what's going on with the Zone...is it discontinued, are they ever going to re-release it, etc.  It's basically still unavailable and I'd love to know if it's going to come back to market at some point.

    Thanks,

    Scott
