Well, lets see if someone can help me.

I have a Blackberry bold 9000 and been using adidas micoach for a month or so (have completed 12 workouts, and some other things.) and my problem is, that when ever I get a gps low signal, it eventually goes into a gps lost and if I don't finish the workout, it wont ever go back on again.

This problem it's quite annoying since, of the 12 workouts 5 had the same problem at different moments of the workout (5 minutes to 20 minutes). The thing, is that if I finish the workout and start a new one, the gps would be found in the normal (quite fast) time it takes.

I run with my phone in my left hand, with the screen facing left, and normaly get average acurasy, (I never got a gps low without losing the gps compleatly).

I run outside, I live in the suburbs, so there are houses but they are quite separated from the road, lets say I have 5 m min on every way I look. There are some trees but normaly I get the GPS lost in open spaces.

Finaly, I have the last version of my coach.

My regards,

Francis.

  • Hello,

Here are a couple stabs in the dark.

    1. You can try a battery pull to reboot the phone.  Turn the phone off.  Then pull the battery out for about 30 seconds.  Then reassemble and power back up.

    2. You could try holding the phone in your left hand with the screen facing to the right (so if you raise up your hand to your chest you can see the screen).  I think the antenna is toward the top of the phone and in front. Oh, and make sure the top of the phone is also pointed up.

    Good luck!

  • Are you able to use another GPS app like Google maps to see your location? It may be that there is something going on with your phone as I have not seen this issue before.

      • Are you running any other apps at the same time? It could be that another app is hogging up the resource.

How much internal memory do you have available? It could be that you are low and miCoach is having to stop recording as there is no room to save your performance data.

  • Hi! I´m having exactly the same problem with my bb 9700 with the same conditions, running in a suburban area. Do you find any solution with this problem. Today I started 5 times my workout.

    Thanks!

    • I never had the issue with my bold, but when I switched to the BB Torch, it takes about 5 minutes to find the gps, and then as I start it looses connection and never comes back. I am using the same route, the same time, and the same clear skies.

  • I had the same problem with the same phone. In addition, when I ended the exercise the shown results made no sense (17 hours of running). I still have this exercise recorded.

    • I dont know if its related but  I have posted here before with a similar issue.  My GPS wont lock on,  Sometimes it will take 10 minutes to find a signal.  Nav works fine other gps enabled apps work fine, its just MiCoach.  This app just doesnt work correctly.  Sadly, after using and loving BIM acitve, Im done with this garbage.  Thanks

  • I had the same problem with BB 8900, but solved turning OFF all connections (WIFI, mobile network)...

I don't need wifi when I'm running neither to make calls .

Then I go to Advanced Options/GPS and Refresh GPS.

Sometimes I run an application called Nogago Outdoor that puts my BB in a "super receiving power " condition and my BB catch the signal in a few seconds. After the signal is caught I close the Nogago app and start training with miCoach without any problem.

The battery of the BB must be on a full charge too. Hope this may help.

  • I own an i-phone (3G 16Gb with OS 4.2.1) and not a BB, but the issues are the same and the solution as well:

    - to switch OFF the wi-fi

    - to switch OFF the network (at least the 3G)

    - to reboot the device before starting micoach

I think that this is an acceptable workaround, but I hope at the same time that the development team will find a better solution and include it in the next release.

    kind regards

  • Hi everyone!

After traying to everithing and also contacton MiCoach support service, it seems that I can find a solution.

The solution was to downlad this program: http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/18053?lang=en

and running it at the same time as miCoach.

I try it on my last 4 trainnigs and everything was recorded perfectly.

    Hope it works for everyone!!

  • I am having similar problems, and once i get the message GPS lost, all data is moot except elapsed time.  Even if the gps signal is found, the system completely messes up miles.  I did an out and back course - 8 miles out, on way back gps was lost then found several times, it then reported 11 miles for the return route... clearly wacked...

I will try reboot and turning off the other radios ( wifi, bluetooth, and maybe network)
